Abstract
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an early post-disaster psychological intervention that aims to reduce emotional pain and reduce the level of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in flood victims. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Psychological First Aid (PFA) on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in flood victims in Kedunggempol Village, Mojosari District, Mojokerto. The type of research used in this study is Pre Experiment with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample in this study was 29 heads of families in Kedunggempol Village, RT/RW. 01/04 with the sampling technique used in this study is total sampling. The intervention provided is Psychological First Aid (PFA) education. The measuring tool in this study is the PCL-C questionnaire to measure the level of PTSD. The analysis method used in this study is the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results showed that most of the PTSD levels before being given Psychological First Aid (PFA) were Moderate PTSD with 24 respondents (82.8%) and after being given Psychological First Aid (PFA) most of them had a level of Mild PTSD with 16 respondents (55.2%) and there were 2 respondents (6.9%) who had a level of Severe PTSD caused by several factors. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant influence of Psychological First Aid (PFA) on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with a P-value of 0.000 < α (0.05). The decrease in PTSD rates is due to the fact that Psychological First Aid (PFA) can provide mental support to victims after the flood disaster.
