Abstract
Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a non-communicable disease that can be dangerous if left uncontrolled. Many complications can be caused by hypertension, one of which is stroke. High blood pressure can damage or narrow blood vessels to the brain, leading to stroke. Based on the prevalence of stroke and hypertension, which increases annually, knowledge of stroke prevention among high blood pressure sufferers is crucial. This quantitative descriptive study used a survey approach. Data were collected from 119 patients using an accidental sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire with proven validity. The results of this study indicate that most patients have moderate knowledge about managing stroke complications through hypertension. The conclusion of this study is that patient knowledge about the occurrence of stroke complications in hypertensive patients at the Pacar Keling Community Health Center in Surabaya still needs to be improved, especially through routine education and family support. This study is expected to guide health workers in designing interventions to improve patient knowledge about hypertension management.
