Authorship represents both scholarly contribution and accountability.

The Health Science and Nursing Research Journal (HSNRJ) expects authorship to be based on substantial intellectual contribution to the work and responsibility for the integrity of the published article.

Authorship Criteria

HSNRJ follows internationally recognized principles of authorship in biomedical and health research.

Authors should have made substantial contributions to the work, participated meaningfully in drafting or critically revising the manuscript, approved the final version for publication, and agreed to be accountable for their contribution and the integrity of the work.

Individuals who do not meet appropriate authorship criteria should not be listed as authors.

Unacceptable Authorship Practices

HSNRJ does not accept:

Guest or honorary authorship — listing individuals who did not make sufficient contributions.

Ghost authorship — failing to identify individuals who made substantial contributions.

Gift authorship — granting authorship primarily because of position, authority, personal relationship, or expectation of benefit.

Author Contributions

Authors should provide a transparent Author Contributions statement.

HSNRJ encourages the use of the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to describe individual contributions where appropriate.

Contributor roles may include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, software, validation, visualization, writing—original draft, writing—review and editing, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and should ensure that:

• all appropriate authors are included;
• author information is accurate;
• all authors approve the submitted and final versions;
• required declarations are complete; and
• relevant editorial correspondence is communicated to co-authors.

Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be justified.

The journal may require written agreement from all affected authors.

Authorship changes after acceptance or publication will be considered only when adequately justified and may require a formal correction.

Authorship Disputes

HSNRJ does not adjudicate institutional authorship disputes.

When an authorship dispute cannot be resolved through documentation and communication among the parties, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution or other appropriate authority and may pause editorial processing until the issue is appropriately addressed.

Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Generative AI systems and AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility, provide consent, manage conflicts of interest, or be held accountable for the integrity of scholarly work.

Human authors remain responsible for all content submitted and published.
